Noll maintains lead at Georgia Mid-Am
DULUTH, Ga. (May 19, 2012) -- David Noll Jr. of Dalton built upon his lead, following up his opening 67 with a 6-under-par 66 in the second round of the Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship, taking place May 18-20 at Berkeley Hills Golf Club.
At 11-under 133, Noll leads both two-time past champion Jeff Knox of Augusta and Chase Jones of Cartersville by seven shots. Both Knox and Jones sit at 4-under 140 through 36 holes.
Chris Waters of Athens, who trailed Noll by just one shot after Friday's round, dropped to fourth with a 73 in the second round.
Noll is a past Georgia Mid-Amateur Champion himself, having won the title in 2007. He is also the reigning Georgia Amateur Champion.
The field was cut to the low 70 and ties following Saturday's round, with the cutline falling at 10-over-par 154 and 71 players advancing.
Berkeley Hills is playing to 6,694 yards and a par 72.
The 54-hole Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship was open to male amateur golfers age 25 or older as of today, who belong to a GSGA member club.
