PNGA Cup begins Wednesday
RICHMOND, B.C. (May 2, 2012) -- The 7th annual Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) Cup is set to take place at Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria, B.C. on May 3-4 2012.

The annual Ryder Cup formatted event is a team competition between British Columbia Golf and the Idaho, Oregon and Washington state golf associations. The competition, originally created to promote goodwill and competition among the state/provincial associations, was last won by British Columbia in 2009 when Idaho was the host. British Columbia last hosted the event in 2007 at Vancouver Golf Club.

British Columbia Golf is sending a 12-player team to the championship in an attempt to dethrone the Oregon Golf Association, the reigning champions from 2011. Playing for British Columbia Golf in the following divisions are:

The PNGA Cup has four-ball, foursome and individual match formats over the two-day competition, with the ultimate victor being crowned on Friday May 4 2012.

Gorge Vale Golf Club was designed by A. Vernon Macan in 1927 and has cemented its place as one of Victoria's premier golf destinations. Known for its undulating terrain and picturesque yet demanding layout, Gorge Vale Golf Club will provide a true test for the 2012 PNGA Cup competitors.

ABOUT THE PNGA Cup Matches

Team event incorporating four-ball, foursomes, and singles matches between teams representing the Washington (WSGA), Oregon (OGA), Idaho (IGA), and British Columbia (BCGA) Golf Associations.

The two-day competition includes four-ball and foursome matches the first day, followed by singles matches the second day. Each of the four associations selects a 12-person team to represent them, which includes four mid-amateur men, two mid-master men, two senior men, two mid-amateur women, and two senior women.
