St Augustine Amateur: Hawaii's Vongvanij Leads

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (October 15, 2005)— Bank Vongvanij of Hawaii continued his fine play with a second round 68 to take the lead with a two round total of 137. Close behind is Johnson & Wales standout Adam Scrimenti who also shot 68 to stand at 140, 3 shots back.

Robert Parker of Sanford Florida and Tim Dalhberg of Clio, Michigan are close by at 142 and 143 respectively.

The tournament is a national event for better amateur and collegiate players. Starting times are 8am to 10am daily. The public is invited at no charge.

The winner will receive a replica of the St. Augustine Amateur Championship crystal trophy created by Heritage Creations of Glens Falls, NY.

Among the sponsors of this year’s event are St. Johns County Tourist Development Council, St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park, Flagler College, A.D. Davis Construction, Bank of St. Augustine, Conquest Realty, Flagler Hospital, Hallmark Homes, Inc., and St. Johns Golf Club.

ABOUT THE St. Augustine Amateur

54 hole stroke play event for better amateurs and collegiate players. The field will be limited to 84 players, with no cut. The tournament is open to Amateurs only whose entry has been accepted by the Tournament Committee however there is an open qualifier several weeks prior to the event - contact the Tournament Committee or visit the website for details.

Unless prior arrangements are made with the approval of the Committee, competitors must walk during the competition.
