PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (April 15, 2012) -- Scott Wilson of Palm Beach Gardens and Dana de Windt of Palm City added to their totals of multiple victories the past year by winning their respective flights Sunday in the Palm Beach International golf tournament at Eastpointe Country Club.
Wilson won the gross division by one Stableford point, 76 to 75 over 2008 champion Steve Anderson of Hobe Sound. Wilson had 42 points the second round, the highest individual total either day, with two birdies and a bogey on each nine for 70 on his own ball. “I hit the ball solid all day and most of my birdie putts were inside six feet,” he said. Wilson birdied Nos. 6, 7, 12 and 13 and bogeyed the ninth and 10th holes.
Wilson won the Palm Beach County Golf Association’s Spring Four-Ball and Stroke Play titles last year and the club championship at Bear Lakes Country Club in March. “Winning the club championship at Bear Lakes was very exciting,” he said. “There are a lot of good players, low handicaps, at Bear Lakes.”
De Windt won the net division with a 36-hole point quota of plus-1. His quota was 31 per round. He was minus-2 Saturday, tied for third, and plus-3 Sunday on rounds of 80-75—155.
It was his third win in the last six months, the first on his own ball. Dana and son Cullen won the PBCGA Parent-Child tournament at Bear Lakes last October. Dana and his wife Kathy took the Errie Ball Husband-Wife event in February at Willoughby CC in Stuart.
Stableford points were awarded on the basis of one for bogey, two for par, four for birdie and six for eagle. There were 53 entries in the gross division, 12 in net play.
