Michael Wog wins Phoenix City Amateur
PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 1, 2012) -- Michael Wog used a third-round 63 and a whole bunch of wind on Sunday to take home the 2012 Phoenix City Amateur, played over this past weekend at four separate courses in the Greater Phoenix region.
Wog opened up Thursday with a 68 at Cave Creek and followed with a 72 at Maryvale. He went low --- really low --- Sunday at Encanto and did what he could to battle the conditions at Aguila.
Adam Walicki led after two rounds but struggled in the final round, failing to handle the wind at Aguila. He opened with a 69 and went 65, 66 at Maryvale and Encanto, respectively. His 82 on Sunday, however, moved him out of contention.
David Sherman, Ken Kellaney and R.J. Wood rounded out the top 5.
