Amateurs lead at Carolina's Tar Heel Cup
WEST END, N.C. (March 26, 2012) -- The Amateurs took their first lead ever on Day 1 of the Tar Heel cup matches.
Leading the way were Scott Harvey, CGA player of the year and Brian Westveer the reigning NC Mid-Amateur Champion. Their one-up victory got the ball rolling and in the following match, Grisette and Simson closed out Lewallen and Linville with a birdie on the par 5 seventeenth for a 2 & 1 win.
The third match turned out to be critical for the amateurs as Ron Kirkpatrick two-putted from 18 feet to give him and Nolan Mills a hard fought 1 up victory.
The Professionals only win featured a 4 & 2 victory over first time cup participants Ryan Bell and Mike McKenzie.
