Homan takes Mississippi Mid-Am by three strokes
Hattiesburg, MS (March 25, 2012) --
Defending Champion, Clay Homan took
home his fourth Mid Amateur Championship
Title posting 6-under, 67-71-72--210 in the
54-hole event. The 2012 win accompanies
championships at Colonial-Deerfield
(2007), Laurel (2010) and Dancing Rabbit
(2011).
Two strokes separated medalists, Homan
and Willis, at the start of the final round
with Willis in the lead. Homan, of
Starkville, began to pull ahead following an
eagle on the ninth hole.
Conditions appeared to be more
difficult for the leaders, as Homan posted
72 in the final round and Willis posted 77
to finish at 3-under. Ben Snow posted a
two-under 70 in the final round to finish in
third place, two under total for the
tournament.

ABOUT THE Mississippi Mid-Amateur
Tournament is scheduled for 54 holes of stroke play
(36 holes for women). The
Championship is open to amateurs who have
reached their 25th birthday and are bona fide
residents of the state of Mississippi for at least 60
days prior to the first round of the tournament.
Participants must conform with the USGA Rules of
Amateur Status. All participants in Mississippi Golf
Association State Championships will be required to
have an active GHIN Handicap through a USGA
Licensed Mississippi Club. Participants must be bona
fide residents of the state of Mississippi for at least
60 days prior to the first round of the tournament.
