Shively, Woodruff lead Georgia Four-Ball
HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. (March 23, 2012) -- William Shively and Jody Woodruff, both of Hawkinsville, teamed up to fire an opening-round 7-under-par 65 and take a one-stroke lead over two other teams at the 24th annual Georgia Four-Ball Tournament. The 54-hole event is taking place March 23-25 at Southern Hills Golf Club in Hawkinsville and Houston Lake Country Club in Perry.
The Peachtree City team of Gene Henderson and Barry Whatley is tied for second with George McCanless of Forsyth and Wade Turner of Roberta at 6-under-par 66. The defending champions from Valdosta, David Matthews and Doug Rayford, are four strokes back at 3-under-par 69.
The Championship through third flights, which are eligible for the overall title, are competing at Southern Hills. The fourth through seventh flights are at Houston Lakes.

The Georgia Four-Ball Tournament, held annually
since 1989, is open
to male amateur golfers who are GSGA members
and are residents of
Georgia. The format is four-ball stroke play.
Entries: Open to two-man teams of male
amateur golfers who have combined USGA
Handicap Indexes of 4.0 and above and a
maximum differential of 6 strokes
Field: 96 teams -- 82 teams determined by
lottery, three spots reserved for each host
club and one spot reserved for each of the
previous year's flight winners
