Texas (TGA) Senior Four-Ball Championship

BULLARD, TX (October 2, 2005) -- Chip Stewart and Larry Thomas of Dallas go wire to wire to capture their second TGA State Senior Four Ball title in the last three years. Stewart & Thomas’s consistent ball striking allowed them to stay out of harms way the entire tournament and capture a one stroke victory over Frank Duphorne of Bullard and Andy Wall of Tyler. Stewart & Thomas made 14 birdies and just one bogey on there way to victory. Wall and Duphorne rallied late with a birdie on the 17th hole to close within one shot heading into the final hole. However Stewart’s clutch second shot into the demanding par four 18th hole to about 12 feet, put the pressure solely on Wall & Duphorne to make birdie at the last. Wall’s birdie attempt finished just left of the hole leaving Stewart with just a tap for the victory. Making a charge up the leader board on the final day was Larry Trowell & Si Harris of The Colony firing the low round of the day, a five under par 66 to grab sole possession of third place.

36 hole leaders in the Handicap division, Rickey and Tommy Carr of Wortham complete the wire to wire victory by shooting a solid final round score of net 67, to capture there first TGA title. Guy Mason & Lamar Smith of Kerrville fired a stellar final round six under par 65 to capture sole possession of second place. Ron Nedry and Sam Floca of Temple climbed up the leader board during the final round with a six under par 65 of there own.

Three perfect days of sunny skies and little to no wind blessed the entire field. Eagle’s Bluff Country Club made for a fantastic venue with its challenging greens and demanding tee shots. The TGA would like to thank all the Members & Staff at Eagles Bluff CC for their hard work in hosting this year’s championship.
