NCGA Super Senior: Owen, Coffee share one-stroke lead
MERCED, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2011) -- Topper Owen of eClub San Francisco and Terry Coffee of Sierra View CC have a one-stroke lead after the first round of the NCGA Super Senior Championship at Fresno’s Fort Washington GCC.

Owen and Coffee carded one-over 75s to lead James Myers of amateurgolf.com by one and James Welsh of Spring Valley by two strokes in the two-round championship for competitors aged 65 and older.

Defending champion Gene Ackerman of Valley Hi CC is four back after an opening-round 79.

The event concludes with the final round at Fort Washington tomorrow.

ABOUT THE NCGA Super Senior

The Super Senior Championship was created in 2010 to give golfers 65 and older their own championship. Format is 36 holes of stroke play. Players must have reached their 65th birthday by the start of the tournament and have a numeric handicap index on their club’s Master Report of 9.4 or less on the date of registration.
