Todd Burgan captures the 24th Annual TGA Mid-Amateur Championship Golf Tournament
CLEVELAND, TN (Oct. 7, 2011) -- Knoxville’s
Todd Burgan broke numerous scoring records in
capturing the 24th Annual TGA Mid-Amateur
Championship presented by Gentleman Jack
which was contested at Cleveland Country
Club. Burgan followed up yesterday’s
impressive round of 63 (9-under-par) with a
final round 66 (6-under-par) to finish the 54-
hole championship at 203 (13-under-par)
which was eight strokes ahead of Matt
Robertson and Brandon Cissom who both fired
final rounds of 67 and 68 respectively.
Today’s win is Burgan’s second state
championship. He also captured the 2009 TGA
Match Play Championship. Burgan’s great play
this week broke the following TGA Mid-Amateur
Championship records:
· Lowest 54-hole score – 203
· Lowest 54-
hole score based on par – 13 under
par
· Lowest 18-hole score (any round) –
63 (second round)
· Lowest final round by
a champion – 66
· Lowest score, final 36
holes – 129
· Largest winning margin – 8
strokes
By winning today’s title, Burgan also claims the
2011 Tennessee Golf Association Amateur
Player of the Year Award. This marks Burgan’s
first time to win this prestigious award which
has been won by either Tim Jackson or Danny
Green for thirteen of the last fourteen years.
In all, 120 competitors began the championship
which was cut down to the low 38 players
after yesterday’s second round. The cut came
at 152 (8-over-par). All thirty-eight players
making it to today’s final round are exempt into
next year’s championship which will be
conducted at Jackson Country Club in Jackson,
TN

ABOUT THE Tennessee Mid-Amateur
Open to amateurs age 25 and older who are
members
of a TGA Club. Qualifying is required for those
who
do
not meet the exemption criteria. Format consists
of
54
holes of stroke play with a cut following the second
round.
