FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (Sept. 19, 2011) -- It was a weekend of breakthrough victories for Titleist golf ball players, highlighting another surge of momentum for Titleist in 2011.
Titleist Brand Ambassadors Matt Griffin and Oliver Bekker each trusted Pro V1x golf balls to first-career victories, leading a four-win week for Titleist golf ball players around the globe.
So far this season, 123 players have won on the worldwide professional tours playing Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls, more than 100 more than the nearest competitor with 21 and more than all competitors combined.
A total of 15,873 players have teed up Titleist golf balls on the worldwide pro tours in 2011.
That's more than six times the nearest competitor with 2,436 and nearly two times all other golf balls put into play.
• AUSTRALASIAN TOUR: Titleist Brand Ambassador Matt Griffin won the inaugural South Pacific Golf Open Championship at Tina Golf Club in New Caledonia, leading a 1-through-8 finish for Titleist golf ball players.
Trusting a Titleist Pro V1x golf ball and bag full of Titleist equipment, including a 910D3 driver and new Prototype AP1 and AP2 (712 Series) irons, Griffin outlasted Pro V1 loyalist Terry Pilkadaris in a sudden-death playoff to earn the first win of his professional career.
On the second playoff hole, Griffin hit his Vokey Design Spin Milled wedge from about 80 yards and watched his Pro V1x stop 3 feet from the hole, setting up the winning birdie.
Griffin shot a final-round 5-under 67 for a 15-under 273 total. Pilkadaris closed in 69.
• SUNSHINE TOUR: Titleist Brand Ambassador Oliver Bekker ran away with his first-career win at the Northern Cape Open on the South African Sunshine Tour.
Bekker, gaming a Pro V1x golf ball and a bag full of Titleist equipment, shot a final-round 3-under 68 for a 15-under 198 total at Kimberly Golf Club, five shots clear of the field.
"It feels great to get the first one, and I hope it's the first of a few more," he told Golf365.com.
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 67 players, more than 71 percent of the field.
• CHAMPIONS TOUR: Pro V1x loyalist Jay Don Blake earned his first Champions Tour title by winning a four-way playoff at the Songdo IBD Championship in Inchon, South Korea.
Blake, who took five years off after playing the PGA Tour to rehab from injuries, won on the fifth playoff hole, rolling his Pro V1x in from 10 feet for birdie.
"It's a big relief to win and feel like I can compete again and get it done," said Blake, who shot a final-round 68 to finish as 13-under 203, tied with Pro V1x loyalist Mark O’Meara and Pro V1 loyalist Peter Senior.

• JAPAN TOUR: Pro V1 loyalist Kurt Barnes captured his first-career Japan Golf Tour event with a one-shot win at the ANA Open.
It was his second worldwide victory this year after winning the OneAsia Tour's SK Telekom Open on Cheju Island in May.
Barnes closed with a 1-under par 71 to finish with a 13-under 275 victory total. He birdied Nos. 12 and 16 down the stretch at Sapporo Golf Club in Hokkaido to help secure the win.
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the ANA Open with 60 players. Titleist also was first in hybrids (34); and sand, lob and approach wedges (105). • PGA TOUR: Of the 11 players who finished among the top 10 and ties at the BMW Championship, nine trusted a Titleist golf ball for their success – including runner-up John Senden (Pro V1) and Titleist Brand Ambassador Geoff Ogilvy (Pro V1), who finished third.
With their high finishes, both Senden and Ogilvy earned places among the top 30 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs standings, qualifying them for this week's Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta.
Ogilvy's performance also sealed his spot on the International squad for the upcoming Presidents Cup matches.
Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the event with 44 players, more than four times the nearest competitor with 10.
Titleist also tied for first in drivers (24); iron sets (26); sand, lob and approach wedges (64); and putters (30).
• LPGA: Four of the top five finishers at the LPGA Navistar Classic trusted Titleist golf balls for their success, including runner-up Tiffany Joh (Pro V1x) and third-place finisher Angela Stanford (Pro V1). Pro V1x loyalists Brittany Lang and Karen Stupples tied for fourth.
Titleist was the overwhelming top choice in golf balls at the LPGA Navistar Classic with 106 players, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 14.
• NATIONWIDE TOUR: Eight of the ten players who finished in the top-10 at the Albertson's Boise Open trusted a Titleist golf ball for their success.
In total, 110 players in the field teed up Titleist golf balls, more than six times the nearest competitor with 17 and more than all competitors combined.
Titleist also was first in iron sets (37); sand, lob and approach wedges (147); and putters (56).
• ASIAN TOUR: At the Macau Open, 94 of the 144 players in the field relied upon Titleist golf balls, nearly five times the nearest competitor with 20 and more than all competitors combined.
Titleist also was first in iron sets (35) and sand, lob and approach wedges (48).
