Pacific Northwest Senior Team: Berry, MacGregor lead

BREMARTON, Wash. (Sept. 21, 2011) -- Steve Berry of Vancouver, B.C. and his partner Lance MacGregor of Delta, B.C. grabbed the lead after firing a first round four-ball score of 7-under par 64 at the 29th Annual Pacific Northwest Men’s Senior Team Championship conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.Berry and MacGregor scattered seven birdies amongst 11 pars during their flawless round. The duo leads the team of Larry Gilhuly and Karl Smith, both of Gig Harbor, Wash., by one shot. Gilhuly and Smith also had a bogey-free first round making six birdies and 10 pars between the two of them. Bernie Bolokoski of White Rock, B.C. and Earl Macpherson of Delta, B.C. sit in a tie for third with Tom Rippon of North Vancouver, B.C. and Ross Gibson of Vancouver, B.C. Both teams shot rounds of 5-under par 66. Round 2 will be played in Chapman Stroke Play format on the Olympic Course and the final round will be a shotgun start played in Four-Ball format also on the Olympic Course


54-hole Stroke Play Competition (Gross and Net). Play will be contested over two different golf courses (one round on the Cascade Course and two rounds on the Olympic Course) using a different format on each day (Four-Ball, Chapman, and Four-Ball), Two-person teams with the field separated into two equal flights based on team handicap.
