NCGA Associate Club: B.N.F. team jumps to lead
PEBBLE BEACH – The B.N.F. GC team of Bill Kastanis, Jerry Gage, Damien Galford and Craig Wesner has established a three-shot lead after the first round of the NCGA Associate Club Championship at Poppy Hills.
B.N.F. GC posted a 21-under net 123 in the format that takes the best two of four net scores per hole. The back nine at tough Poppy Hills was especially kind to the team as it went 12 under to power to the lead over second-place Caddie Club of Pebble Beach (Anthony Malokas, Marcos Jimenez, Mitch Hosaka and James Moore) and FFIC Fundster GC (Keith Langan, Peter Imbs, Judy Schroder and Robert Adra).
Rolmex GC (David McPartlan, Kevin McPartlan, Steve Viskochil and David Horwitz) is third, four back of the leaders.
The 30 teams competing for the title survived sectional and regional qualifying to make it to the championship. Modeled off the popular Zone Championship for regular clubs. the popular event showcases four-person teams from the more than 1,000 NCGA associate clubs – organizations not associated with a golf course, but, rather, a church, job or other group.
