Kansas Senior: Newman, Groom, Norton lead
TOPEKA, Kan. (Aug. 15, 2011) -- Following a two hour rain delay, round one of the 31st Kansas Senior Amateur Championship is in the books at Topeka Country Club.
Steve Newman of Wichita, Steve Groom of Raytown and defending champion Bryan Norton of Mission Hills all fired rounds of 1-under par 70 to hold the lead going into the final round. In the Super Senior Division, Olathe's Dick Landon is the round one leader with a 2-over par 73.
The 2011 championship will conclude on August 16th. Tee times will begin at 8:00 am from #1 and #10 tees. The championship is open to players age 50 & older and includes three divisions: Championship (gross scoring only), Gross/Net, Super Senior (age 65 & older).

ABOUT THE Kansas Senior Amateur
Must be an member of the Kansas Golf
Association. 36 holes of individual stroke play with
two
divisions: Championship (any age 50+) and Super
Senior (60+). Players that wish to compete for the
overall championship must enter the Championship
Division. Gross and net champions to be determined
in
each division.
