ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND (September 12, 2005) -- To celebrate the 15th Birthday of the British Golf Museum visitors are being given FREE OF CHARGE entry into the museum on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September.

This is to celebrate 100 years of collecting and 15 years of innovation at St Andrews' 5 star award winning visitor attraction.

After officially opening to great critical acclaim on 19th September 1990, the museum has won 7 major awards and is currently one of 52 visitor attractions that have reached the five star standard in the Scottish Tourist Board's Visitor Attractions Grading Scheme.

The museum includes a new exhibition, St Andrews Open Championships, 1946-2005, which focuses on the prizes, the players and the people who attend The Open. Imaginative displays and stunning interactives add to visitor enjoyment of this attraction and the museum's amazing collections.

Visitors are encouraged to practice their putting in The 18th Hole with replica clubs and balls from the last 175 years and to try on period golf costume. Add to this the new interactive displays with rare black and white footage from The Open Championships dating back to 1926 and the chance to test golfing knowledge in the interactive quiz, and you have the perfect break from playing golf!
