Proveaux, who owned a three-stroke lead heading into the final round but struggled to a 3-over-par 39 on the front nine at Sycamore Hills Golf Club, was forced to make a 15-foot putt on the 18th hole to win.

Lorens Chan of Honolulu, Hawaii, sank a similar putt on No. 18 to draw even with Proveaux, who was playing two boys' groups behind him. Chan used a final-round 69 to finish alone in second.

"I didn't even know I was tied until I was walking up to the green on 18, and my second shot probably wouldn't have been so good if I did know," said Proveaux, who closed with a back-nine 34 for a final-round 1-over-par 73 and 282 total. "I just took a deep breath and told myself I could do it. Then I took the putter back and made it.

"This is my first major victory in a stroke-play event and I am so happy to have won. The field this week was so good and I knew it would take my best effort to win this trophy."

While Proveaux took home the Jack Nicklaus Trophy, Jutanugarn closed out her second straight national junior title in dominating fashion to take home the Patty Berg Trophy.

The 15-year-old came into the final round with a 10-stroke lead and was never threatened. She finished with a final-round 70 and 273 total to win by that same margin.

"I won this tournament and just won the U.S. Girls' [Junior], so I feel so good," said Jutanugarn. "I am so happy for myself, my family and my sister."

Jutanugarn, who matched the 54-hole Championship scoring mark on Thursday, came within two strokes of Aree Song of Korea, who holds the all-time Championship scoring mark of 271.

"I just had to play my normal game today and I love this golf course."

Mariah Stackhouse of Riverdale, Ga., shot a final-round 70 to finish alone in second. Stackhouse, who is committed to Stanford for fall 2012, was proud of the way she played and was complimentary of Jutanugarn.

"When someone plays that well, they deserve to win," said Stackhouse, who played with Jutanugarn the final three rounds. "I am pleased with my finish, but my hat is off to Ariya."

Casey Danielson of Osceola, Wis., the first-round leader, finished alone in third at 291.

Defending Champion Cassy Isagawa of Wailuku, Hawaii, finished in 13th place.

In the Boys' Division, David Lee of Houston, Texas, closed with a 66 and a 284 total to finish in third.

"I had a great day and knew I needed to go low to have any chance," said Lee, who started the round nine strokes back of Proveaux. "But Cody hits the ball so straight and deserved to win."

Proveaux, who is committed to Clemson for fall 2012, was nervous standing over the final putt, but still made a confident stroke.

"I talked to my parents right after I won and told them they should have been here," said Proveaux. "I don't know how I made that putt but I did."

The 72-hole Championship featured a 54-hole cut to the low 30 boys and 30 girls, including ties. Thirty-two boys made the cut at 225 and 34 girls advanced from a cut at 234.

This year's field included past winners of the Championship, PGA Junior Series event champions, PGA Section winners, many of Polo Golf and Golfweek's top-ranked players, and selected national junior tournament winners.

Golf Channel will present a one-hour highlight show of the 36th Junior PGA Championship, with the first airing on Thurs., Sept. 8, at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Begun in 1976, the Junior PGA Championship has traditionally produced unforgettable golf performances and brings together the best junior golfers from around the country to compete for the Jack Nicklaus Trophy in the Boys' Division and the Patty Berg Trophy in the Girls' Division.
