North Carolina Senior Four-Ball: Carpenter, Brown lead
HIGH POINT, NC (Aug. 3, 2011) -– Today was the second round of the 11th North Carolina Senior Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by High Point Country Club’s Willow Creek course.

Ron Carpenter of Creedmoor and Gary Brown of Charlotte carded a nine-under par 63 to take a two shot lead heading into Thursday’s final round. Carpenter and Brown are at 16-under par 128 total.

First round leaders Larry Boswell of Jamestown and Ernie Newton of High Point posted a 67 and slipped into a tie for second place at 130 with Ray Womack and Wayne Pyrtle of Burlington.

Defending champions Mark Wagner of Statesville and Richard Hogan of Burlington stand at 140 and are in a tie for 30th place.

The field was cut to the low 30 teams and ties for the final round. The cut line fell at 140 with 36 teams advancing to the final round.

ABOUT THE North Carolina Senior Four-Ball

Open to any male golfer aged 55 and older, a legal resident of North Carolina, and an active index with the CGA. Format is 54 holes of four-ball stroke play with the field cut to the low 30 scores and ties after 36 holes.
