GEORGETOWN, Kent. (July 25, 2011) -- The 2011 KGA Fred Allen Team Championship opened today with more birdies and eagles then the Audubon Society. After an early threat of stormy weather, the clouds parted and provided a great day to play golf.

Alex Wright and Matt Logan led the way with an opening round of 11 under 61 over the same golf course that has hosted the Hooters Tour for several years. Cherry Blossom Golf & Country Club was waiting to award good shots with low scores and several teams in all of the flights took advantage of the rain softened conditions. Just behind the first place championship team was Tom Campbell and Scott Bolin along with Josh Rhodes and Patrick Newcomb at 10 under par 62.

The Senior's Championship is just as competitive with Bill Leavell and Don Wood joining Mark Phillips and Dwaine Gauding at 5 under par 67. The next three teams in that flight are all tied at 2 under 70.

The highlighted round of the day has to go to Men's Handicap flight leaders Joe Stamper and Chuck Osborne with an outstanding net score of 15 under par 57.
