Taylor wins the Nebraska Junior Amateur
LINCOLN, NE (July 13, 2011) – Drew Taylor of Omaha won the 43rd Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship Wednesday at the Country Club of Lincoln. Taylor entered the final round with a 3-shot advantage over Calvin Freeman of Table Rock and maintained that lead after both golfers posted 2-under par 70’s.
Freeman caught Taylor at 3-under following a birdie on the 11th hole but Taylor quickly regained the advantage with a Freeman bogey on the par 3 12th. The lead expanded to 3 shots after bogeys by Freeman on holes 17 & 18.
The victory is Taylor’s first state championship. A recent Millard North graduate, he’ll compete for the Nebraska Wesleyan men’s golf team in the fall.

will complete 72-holes of stroke play
competition,
18 holes of golf each day to determine a state
champion. The Girls' Amateur will run in
conjunction with the
Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship.
