Cards Claim NCGAParent/Child Championship

LIVERMORE, CALIF. (July 10, 2011) -- Mitch and Wayne Card edged out the team of Joshua and Scott Honosh by a single stroke at the NCGA Parent-Child Championship (President's Flight) at Poppy Ridge Golf Course. The Cards posted rounds of 69-70--139 while the Hanoshs posted 72-68--140.

David and Jason Marks finished third with scores of 71-73--144.

Steve and Nick DeRosa dominated the Director's flight with scores of 68-65--133. Dan and Tim Laskoski took second with rounds of 71-67--138.

In the Secretary's flight Michael and De Tan carded 65-68--133 and won a playoff over Geoffrey and Madilyn Brown (67-66--133).

Steve and Nicole Schroder took third with rounds of 66-70--136.


First played in 1998, the NCGA Foursome is a two-person, alternate-shot handicap event that is geared towards NCGA parents and their children. The championship, which still features a Parent/Child flight but also now has an open flight, was formerly called the Parent-Child Championship.

Foursome (alternate shot) Net Stroke Play. 36 holes – 18 holes per day. Entries will be put into three flights by team handicap. Team handicap is 50% of partners’ combined course handicaps.

Both team members must be members of the NCGA and have a numeric handicap index not to exceed 36.4 (men) or 40.4 (women) listed on their club’s Master Report on date of registration. For the Parent/Child flight, the relationship with the child must be natural, adopted or stepchild. Partners may have more than one generation between them (i.e. a grandfather may play with his grandson). Partners don’t need to be members of the same club.
