Kentucky (KGA) Mid-Amateur Championship
GEORGETOWN, KY (September 2, 2005) -- The Kentucky Golf Association has awarded the Logan Cup Mid-Amateur Championship trophy to Bruce Walters for his victory in the 2005 event. Oh, that's Bruce Walters II, not his dad, Bruce G. Walters, who already has his name on the trophy. When the Walters family from Pikeville rolls into town, you better check to see if it's Bruce G. or Bruce II thats playing in the tournament. Come to think of it, it doesn't really matter; especially this year. Bruce G. has won the KSGA Senior Amateur Championship and was low senior at the 2005 BellSouth State Amateur Championship. Now, Bruce II has taken some of his own silver back home by winning the 2005 5/3 Bank KGA Mid-Amateur Championship. His 6 under par total of 138 was a shot better that the 5 under par posted by Bowling Green's Steve Rogers and Shelbyville's Scotty King. A total of nine players finished under par for the 36-Hole tournament at Cherry Blossom G&CC in Georgetown.
