Florida (FSGA) Junior Match Play Invitational
TAMPA,FL (August 28, 2005) -- In the 16-18 age division, Robbie Wight, of West Palm Beach, won the Junior Match Play Invitational in 19 holes over Andrew Nottenkamper, of Boynton Beach. Wight won his third consecutive match in 19 holes to take the title. On his way to the finals, Wight defeated Eric Shaw, from Longwood, and the number two seed Cameron Knight, of Dade City. Wight was matched up in the semifinals against the number three seed, Kyle Cobb, from Tallahassee, and defeated Cobb in 19 holes to reach the finals against Andrew Nottemkamper. On Nottemkamper’s way to the finals he defeated Matt Scarlett, Boynton Beach, and Logan Blondell, of Lakeland, in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals he defeated Cody Ryan, of Gainesville, winning the match in 19 holes. In the finals match of Wight versus Nottemkamper, Wight was two down with two holes to play when he made par on the 17th hole and birdied on the 18th hole to send the match into extra holes. Wight took the championship on the 19th hole with a par.

Wesley Graham, of Port Orange, won the 13-15 age division defeating Phillip Choi, Orlando, 3 and 1. Graham won the 2005 Boys Junior Championship for his age division earlier this month. On Graham’s way to the title he defeated Travis Ralph, from Longboat Key, and William Cauley, of Jacksonville, to reach the finals. Choi found himself in the in the finals by defeating Carson Weinand, of Naples, and defeated the number two seed Christopher Carlin, of Pembroke Pines, 5 and 4 in the semifinals. In the finals match of Graham versus Choi, Graham birdied 3 of the first four holes while Choi birdied 2 of the first 4 holes. The match was all square through 12 holes and Graham made birdie on the 13th, 14th, and eagled the par 4 15th hole. Choi came back and birdied the 16th hole for Graham to go two up with two holes to play. Graham took the match on the 17th hole to win the 3 and 1.

ABOUT THE Florida Junior Match Play

This match play invitation-only event features the top junior golfers ages 13-18. Boys 16-18 play on one course, and boys 13- 15 and all girls play on another. Invitations are based on the Junior Championship and Florida Junior Tour (FJT) rankings.
