Eastern Women's Amateur: Burnett wins 100th playing
CHARLESTON, S. Carolina (June 16, 2011) -- Katie Burnett of Brunswick, Georgia won the 100th Women's Eastern Golf Association's Amateur Championship. Burnett fired a final-round 75 but had enough of a cushion following an opening-round 67 to hang on for the victory.

Burnett finished two shots ahead Marina Alex and Laura Wearn, who both tied for third place at 218 for the three-day event.

Brittany Altomare of Shrewsbury, Mass. was fourth with 219.

ABOUT THE Women's Eastern Amateur

The Womenfs Eastern Golf Championship has been played since 1906 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious womenfs amateur championships in the United States.

Must belong to a WEGA member club or have a school affiliation in one of the following Eastern states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. 54 hole stroke play championship.
