St. Andrews Links Trophy: Enoch leads by one
ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (June 3, 2011) -- Welshman Rhys Enoch holds a one shot lead going in to the second round of the St. Andrews Links Trophy.
Enoch posted an excellent five-under-par 66 on the New Course to take the lead by one from Franco Romero of Argentina. Englishman Tom Lewis was tied on three-under-par with Kris Nicol from Fraserburgh and Kiwi Ben Campbell was a shot further back on two-under.
Despite the calm and warm conditions throughout the day only seven players finished under par after the first round on the New Course. Peter Latimer, of the New Club, led the local challenge on one-over-par and his clubmate Greg Paterson was a shot further back. Ewan Scott of the St Andrews Club shot a four-over-par 75.
The second round of the stroke play event is played on the Old Course and then the leading 40 players and ties progress to the final 36 holes on the Old Course on Sunday.
