FCWT Laura Diaz Girls National Championship: Sealy Wins by 5

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (May 30, 2011) -- FCWT veteran Monifa Sealy of TRINIDAD and TOBAGO (2011) took it one round at a time, improved a little each day and captured the title in her last FCWT event. Miss Sealy, who carded rounds of 74-73-72, took the lead at the end of Round Two, then posted an even par round on Monday to win by 5 strokes and tie Clara Teixeira of BRAZIL (2011) for the Low Round honors. Miss Sealy, a student at the Gary Gilchrist Academy, had not won this season, but did earn honorable mention honors at the Friday Night Awards Dinner for her two Top 3 finishes. A fourth season player, Miss Sealy has won in 2 previous seasons. Eighteen year old Monifa led the division in birdies with 14 for the weekend.

Maria Torres of PUERTO RICO (2013) finished in 2nd place while leading this division in pars with 44. Miss Torres earned 2nd place earlier this season at Champions Gate. Finishing in 3rd place was 13 year old Mai Dechathipat of THAILAND (2015). Coming into this event, Mai had three Top 10 finishes; this is her best FCWT finish to date. Senior Christina McQuiston of Rome, ITALY, who fired the Low Round of 71 yesterday finished tied for 4th with one of the Girls division's Player of the Year Mika Liu of Lakewood Ranch, FL. The two finished at 227. Giovana Maymon of MEXICO (2014), who made 1st Team All American with her two wins this season, finished in 6th place and a threesome of girls finished T7 at 129, 10 strokes off the lead: Clara Teixeira of BRAZIL, Kailey Walsh of Boca Raton, FL (2012) and So Young Hwang of SOUTH KOREA (2012).
