Pacific Northwest (PNGA) Junior Boys' Championship
LYNDEN, WA (August 19, 2005) -- Andrew Yun of Tacoma, WA claims the 51st PNGA Junior Boys' Amateur after defeating Nicholas Grigsby of Spokane Valley, WA, 2&1 in the 36-hole final match. Yun and Grigsby both got off to a very hot start in the opening 18-holes, combining for 14 birdies, respectively shooting 68 and 67. Yun and Grigsby were All Square after the morning 18-holes. In the afternoon Yun birdie the par-3 20th hole to go 1-up and then saw the match go back to all square after Grigsby made par on the 22nd hole. Yun then put together an impressive run of par-birdie-birdie on the 25th-28th holes to make the turn to the final 9-holes at 3-up. Grigsby birdied the 28th and 29th holes to get to within 1-hole but was answered by Yun's birdie at the 30th to fall back to 2-down. Both players halved the next four holes with par-birdie-par-birdie giving Yun the victory, 2&1.
