North Carolina (CGA) Senior Partners Championship
GREENVILLE, NC (August 19, 2005) -- Woody Greene, 60, of Linville, NC and David Strawn, 55, of Charlotte, NC led wire-to-wire to claim a three-stroke victory over Ernie Newton of High Point, NC and Ron Carpenter of Durham, NC. Newton and Carpenter tied the tournament low round by firing a 10-under par 61 to try to catch the leaders. But a closing eagle three on the par five 18th hole by Woody Greene sealed the championship.

The North Carolina Senior Partners Championship utilizes a mixed format. Today’s round was four-ball stroke play.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association. The Carolinas Golf Association has a membership of over 730 member clubs and 190,000 golfers in the Carolinas, hosts 26 major championships and over 140 tournaments annually.

ABOUT THE North Carolina Senior Four-Ball

Open to any male golfer aged 55 and older, a legal resident of North Carolina, and an active index with the CGA. Format is 54 holes of four-ball stroke play with the field cut to the low 30 scores and ties after 36 holes.
