SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M.(May 13, 2011) -- The most anticipated event on the SCAGA Schedule teed off once again at Santa Ana GC just outside of Bernalillo, N.M. The SCAGA Four Ball Team Championship features a full field of 156 amateur golfers competing in two-man teams in a best ball format.

Friday's round featured the Championship flight teeing off first thing in the morning followed by the President's Flight and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd flights.

The Championship flight had two teams at the top of the leaderboard as early first round scores started to pile in. Daniel Medina and Mike Frias of El Paso, Texas posted a five-under 66 and were matched by Patrick Hanlon, Las Cruces, N.M. and Anton Salome, Socorro, N.M. The duo is one stroke in front of two other teams while 12 teams are within five shots of the lead leading into Saturday's second round. Defending champions Steve and Tim Madigan, Rio Rancho, N.M. sit quietly, two shots back after posting their first round 68.

ABOUT THE Sun Country Four-Ball

Must be a SCAGA member. Limit within 10 strokes of partners. 54-hole four-ball stroke play event with men's and women's championship/ net flights along with a men's mid-senior flight (35 & up).
