In Australia, Slappendel (64) leads the Keperra Bowl
BRISBANE, Australia (May 10, 2011) -- Newcastle member Steven Slappendel has shot to the top of the Keperra Bowl, carding a fantastic 8-under par 64 at Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane.

Last week’s Queensland Amateur Champion Jake Higginbottom (Pictured) is a further two strokes back in equal third place with fellow New South Wales team member Daniel Bringolf, both players fired impressive rounds of 5-under par 67.
The morning field enjoyed the best of today's conditions as blustery winds were common on the course in the afternoon.
In all 27 players returned scores under par on day one.
The top 70 players plus ties will make the 36-hole cut following the conclusion of tomorrow's second round. Day two of the Keperra Bowl tees off from 06.30am Wednesday morning.
