Illinois Pub-Links: Wright wins at Foxford Hills

CARY, IL (May 3, 2011) -- John Wright followed up his first-round 73 with a 1-under 71 in Tuesday's final round to claim the 20th Illinois State Public Links Championship at Foxford Hills Golf Club.

Wright, of Aurora, trailed Dave Ryan of Taylorville and Nick Robles of Crystal Lake following Monday's opening round as the two leaders fired even-par 72s. The door was open in Tuesday's final round, though, when Ryan and Robles struggled, finishing in a tie for second place and fifth place, respectively.

Chadd Slutzky of Palatine and Thomas O'bryan of Aurora tied Ryan for second place.

ABOUT THE Illinois Public Links

This is a 36-hole stroke play event. The entire field will play 18-holes the first day with the low 20 and ties advancing to the final 18- holes.

The championship is open to any amateur who is a current resident of Illinois, with a current Handicap index of 5.4 or lower, and who since January 1 of the current year have been bona fide public course players , and have not held privileges of any course which does not extend playing privileges to the general public or privileges of any private club maintaining its own course. The CDGA reserves the right to approve or reject any entry and extend special invitations.
