Bivins, Gentry take Round 1 Lead at Carolina Senior 4-Ball

SPARTANBURG, S. Carolina (April 19, 2011) -- Michael Bivins of High Point, NC and Trip Gentry of Greensboro, NC fired a seven-under par 65 to take a one shot lead.

Defending champions, Paul Simson of Raleigh, NC and Don Detweiler of Raleigh, NC posted a five-under par 67 and are currently tied for fourth place.

After 36 holes the field of 88 teams will be cut to the low 30 teams and ties for the final round.

ABOUT THE Carolinas Senior Four-Ball

The Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship is conducted at 54 holes of four-ball stroke play. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina and at least 55 years old.
