Richmond wins Wolfpack Intercollegiate
RALEIGH, N.C. (April 17, 2011) - Junior Brad Miller shot a 1-under 70 Sunday to finish fourth and lead the Richmond men's golf team to its second tournament victory of the 2010-11 season at NC State's Wolfpack Spring Open.

The Spiders were a shot behind Lamar entering Sunday's second and final round and Richmond shot an identical 291 to finish at 14-over 582. Lamar (587) finished second, five shots behind the Spiders, followed by North Carolina (589), NC State (596), Old Dominion (601) and Maryland (602).

This was the Spiders' second tournament victory this season, having also won the Richmond Intercollegiate back in October. It was Richmond's 18th tournament victory, including its fifth in six seasons under head coach Adam Decker. Richmond has finished in the top-5 at eight of their nine tournaments in the 2010-11 season.

The Spiders have finished in the top-3 in seven of the last eight tournaments and in the top-2 in four of the last seven heading into the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship. Richmond finished second at last year's A-10 Championship.

Miller finished at 3-over 143 (75-70) to tie for fourth, his best finish of the season and his second top-10 finish of 2010-11. It was the second-best finish of his career and highest finish since winning the Frank Landrey Invitational in his freshman year. His 1-under 70 Sunday was his seventh round under par this season.

Senior Michael Shrader and sophomore Daniel Walker tied for ninth at 5-over 147 on the par-71, 73,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Shrader shot a 73 in the opening round and a 74 Sunday, while Walker shot a 74 Saturday and a 73 Sunday.

Senior Sam Beach, who had the lead after shooting a 2-under 69 in the opening round, shot a 79 Sunday to tie for 13th at 6-over 148. Sophomore Nick Austin tied for 46th at 156 (82-74).

The Spiders head to Florida for the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship, April 29-May 1 at Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey in the Hills, Fla.
