CHULA VISTA, Calif. (March 15, 2011) -- The SMU men's golf team scored a big win at the San Diego Intercollegiate on Tuesday, topping a field of 12 teams, including No. 6 San Diego State and No. 19 San Diego, to earn the team championship.

SMU carded a 13-over 1,093 in the non- traditional, play-six, count-five event. UTA tied SMU at 1,093, but the tie was broken with a card-off. Each team's No. 6 player's third- round card was put head-to-head, and Aaron Stewart's 73 beat Brad Lyle's 77, giving SMU the championship.

SMU senior Kelly Kraft again led SMU, finishing second individually at 1-under 215. Aaron Stewart was one shot back of Kraft, tying for third at even-par 216. Matt Schovee and Marc Sambol also scored top-20 finishes, tying for 11th and 20th, respectively.
