SCGA Super Seniors: Forster and Tyler card wins

SAN JACINTO, CALIF. (Nov. 1, 2010) -- Ken Forster of Rancho Mirage, Calif. fired a 1-under-par round to win the 11th annual SCGA Super Senior Amateur Championship at the Country Club of Soboba Springs. Despite an opening bogey, Forster managed to keep it at 1-under going out. A brilliant 2-under-par score of 34 coming in gave him the title by 5 shots over Jim Saivar of San Diego (75-74—149). Frank Merhar of La Jolla took third (74-76—150).

In the Net division, Bob Tyler of Sliverlinks Golf Club carded a two day total of 4-under-par to win by 6 strokes over Michael Younger of El Prado Men’ Golf Club (73-73—146). John Fecko from Landmark at Hemet was third (72-76—148).

This championship is open to SCGA members who are age 65 and above and have a USGA handicap index of 10.4 or below. The championship is a 36- hole individual stroke play event, there is no qualifying as all entries are on a first come, first serve basis. For eight years this championship was incorporated into the SCGA Senior Amateur as a separate division. Starting in 2008 the Super Senior Division was removed from the Senior Amateur Championship into its own 36-hole championship.
