Cathrea, JenQ Advance in California Women's Am
CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2010) --2009 champion, Casie Cathrea advanced to the quarterfinals defeating Nicole Burtt of Cathedral City 5 & 3 and Michelle Xie of Palo Alto 5 & 4. Cathrea will face local, Joy Robinson of Pebble Beach in tomorrow's morning match.
Number two seed, Jenni JenQ of Saratoga also advanced, beating Nicole Gino of Laguna Hills 5 & 4 but needed an extra hole to take down 1998 champion Corey Weworski of Carlsbad. JanQ is set to play recent U.C. Davis graduate and current assistant golf coach for the U.C. Davis women's golf team, Lauren Dobashi.
Four time champion, Lynne Cowan of Davis beat Lynette Branch of San Luis Obispo 6 & 4, but was defeated in the afternoon match by Mitsue Lewis of San Diego 3 & 2. Lewis will meet Pebble Beach local and last year's medalist, Stephanie Sendell. Sendell advanced by beating CWAC committee chair, Sally Tomlinson 6 & 5 and Brittany Smith of Rancho Murieta in a close one up match.
Play will start Saturday morning at the Golf Club at Quail Lodge at 7:40 a.m.

The California Women’s Amateur Championship was
founded in 1967 and played at Pebble Beach Golf
Links until 1987 when the Championship was invited
to Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, where it was
played through 2019.

round, 18 holes each day, to determine 32
players
for match play. Prizes will be awarded
to the Champion, Runner-up, Semifinalists,
Quarterfinalists
and the 36-hole Low Gross Medalist
from qualifying rounds.
