St Ives and Berkeley Hills Lead Georgia Team Championship
STATHAM, Ga. (Oct. 30, 2010) -- A pair of Duluth golf clubs, St. Ives Country Club and Berkeley Hills Country Club, share the opening round lead at the Georgia Team Championship, taking place at The Georgia Club, October 30-31. St. Ives and Berkley Hills each carded 9-under-par 133 and hold a one-stroke lead over three teams -- Alpharetta Athletic Club-East of Milton, Crystal Falls Golf Club of Dawsonville and defending champion Dalton Golf and Country Club.

In Saturday’s four-ball stroke play round, Bubba Gwyn and Billy Shida, both of Duluth and Berkeley Hills, carded a field-low 63. They combined with a 70 from Hector Cora and Jorge Cora, both of Atlanta, for the club’s 133 total. St. Ives, which tied for second in last year’s Team Championship, posted a 66 from Rod Reed of Alpharetta and John Smith of Johns Creek, while Derek West and Scott Cunningham, both of Johns Creek, carded 67.

The Georgia Club is playing to approximately 6,790 yards and a par of 71.

Final-round action gets underway with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m. Sunday. The final round will feature a best-three-of-four stroke play format. The St. Ives and Berkeley Hills teams will tee off from hole No. 1.
