Brogden Defends and takes 6th Carolinas Women's Senior Am
Pat Brogden Wins for Sixth Time
LEXINGTON, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2010) --The 12th Carolinas Women's Senior Amateur Championship was completed today at the Sapona Country Club. Pat Brogden of Garner, North Carolina captured her sixth CGA championship title and successfully defends her crown by two strokes over Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC.
Brogden, 56, who plays left-handed, cross handed, found herself still one shot back after the outward nine but the tide changed when Brogden made a birdie on the par 4,10th while Moore made a bogey 5. After that, Brogden said she never looked back and kept the momentum moving in her favor as much as possible.
"I made a lot of par saving putts that helped me to stay neck and neck with Patty (Moore)," Pat said. "I also had three birdies today which gave me some confidence on the greens." Pat's game plan was to just hit the fairway and hit the green. "It's a pretty simple game if you can make it happen," Brogden said laughing. "I'm happy that I was able to defend my title."
In the Tournament division, Dollie Watson of Lexington, NC fired a 77-78--155 to take the overall Super Senior title and also the lowest round in the division. This division plays a shorter course.
