Connelly Doubles Up at NYSGA Senior
LYONS, NY (Sept. 17, 2010) -- Charles Connolly of Hiland GC in Queensbury, NY became the first golfer in NYSGA history to win 2 Championships concurrently as he became the winner of both the NYSGA Senior and Super Senior Amateur titles.

Connolly rallied from 6 shots back to tie first and second round leader Dale Dirk of The Brookwoods CC. Connolly’s 73 was good enough to tie Dirk, who bogeyed his last hole of regulation when he missed a 15 foot putt to win the Championship. In the playoff on #1, Dirk’s tee shot got him into trouble and he was forced to layup of the water hazard that crosses the fairway. Despite a solid wedge shot to within 15 feet, his putt for par lipped out and Connolly won the Championship with a solid par.

In the Super Senior Championship, Connolly was a 4 shot winner over Peter Friedes of Glenarbor GC. Friedes had a 2 shot lead on Connolly after 13, but after a long second rain delay Friedes lost his momentum and played his last 5 holes in 6 over par.

Connolly is now a 3 time winner of the NYSGA Senior Championship, and only the third player to win both the Senior and Super Senior Championships.
