Charlotte City: Landry holds on to win

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Aug. 22, 2010) -- On a sweaty Sunday filled with foibles and fireworks, Brent Landry, a relative newcomer to the local golf scene, smoked the Myers Park Country Club course with a 5-under 66 and won the Charlotte City Amateur golf tournament in his first try.
How's this for an erratic final round:
Four men led at one time or another. Joe Jaspers took a one-shot lead over Kelly Stimart and a four-shot lead over Bret Boner into the final round. Stimart double-bogeyed the first hole, setting the stage for the day's see-saw fortunes.
Boner, on the other hand, started in style, shooting 5-under 31 on the front side. He took sole leadership on the 10th when Jaspers three-putted. But Boner hit his tee shot on the par-3 11th semi-sideways into a creek. With no place to get a good drop, he returned to the tee and knocked the next one close to set up a bogey that drew applause from the onlookers.
