High Plains Drifter: Thayer wins his 5th
- KSGA photo
GARDEN CITY, Kansas (Aug. 29, 2010) -- Sean Thayer of Garden City overcame a two shot deficit to become the 2010 High Plains Amateur Champion. This marks the fifth time Thayer has won this championship. You could say home course advantage after one or two titles, but five is the real deal for Thayer, who obviously enjoys capturing this event, which is played on his home course.
Russell Holzbaur of Kansas City won the Masters Division with a two day total of 143 while Steve Groom, Raytown, captured the Senior Divison crown with a 146.
