European Amateur: One handed putter leads
Vanajanlinna, Finland (August 4, 2010) -- After the first half of players had finished the first round Jesper Kennegård from Sweden was alone in the lead. The swede known for his one handed putting style scored 67, five under par. The weather conditions were tougher the afternoon, but Italy's Filippo Bergamischi managed to post the same score and catch Kennegard.
Finns chasing the leaders:
The best players representing the host country today were Kalle Samooja and Tuomas Salminen. Both played their rounds for a par-result, even though Salminen only found out yesterday that he was going to be in the competition ”I am happy with my round today. Especially having had such a short time to prepare. I feel like I can still take a couple of shots off from my result tomorrow”, said Salminen. In addition to having the best result out of the Finns for the day, Samooja was the only player in the Finnish team who made an eagle. “Unfortunately none of the many cameras on the course catched that”, joked Samooja after his round.
