LAUREL, Mississippi (August 1, 2010) -- Starkville’s Clay Homan, the men's golf coach at Mississippi State University, didn’t give the field a chance to catch him on Sunday by firing a 65 in the final round to win by 10 strokes.
Runner up Lane Pippin of Ocean Springs shot even par 72 in the final round to finish at 5 under par 211 three strokes ahead of Duke Simmons at 214. The heat was extreme all weekend and made playing the already challenging course, tough.
Four players finished up at even par for the tournament.
Michael Moody and Stephen Yelverton tied for first place in the first flight, the second flight was won by Carter Callaway of Hattiesburg, the third flight was won by Larry Boyd of Hattiesburg and the fourth flight was won by Tom Williams of Petal with a score of 244.
