Altomare Captures Women's Eastern Amateur
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ (June 17, 2010)--After finishing runner-up in 2009, Brittany Altomare of Shrewsbury, MA claimed the 99th Women's Eastern Golf Association Amateur Championship.

Altomare won the WEGA title at Shackamaxon Golf & Country Club by leading wire-to-wire. She posted rounds of 70, 72 and 70 for a 54-hole total of 4-under 212. Altomare was four strokes ahead of runner-up Marina Alex of Wayne, NJ, and a whopping sixteen shots clear of the third-place finisher Meredith Swanson of Roanoke, VA.

The Womenfs Eastern Golf Championship has been played since 1906 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious womenfs amateur championships in the United States.

Must belong to a WEGA member club or have a school affiliation in one of the following Eastern states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. 54 hole stroke play championship.
