Frisco, TX (May 16, 2010) – Another great day for scoring greeted the players for the final round of the State Four-Ball Championship. The Fazio Course at Stonebriar Country Club played host to this year’s championship and gave teams a great chance to shoot low numbers. After a round full of inclement weather, two days of mild conditions allowed the players to post impressive scores. Rob Couture and Dru Fenimore were five shots off the lead coming into the final round, but made a remarkable comeback to claim the title by 3 strokes.

Rob Couture and Dru Fenimore, both of Dallas, made 9 birdies on their way to final round 63. The team birdied 4 of the last 5 holes to make a late charge and vault up the leader board. Fenimore drained birdies on the final 2 holes to increase their lead. Rob Couture has now won the State Four-Ball 2 out of the last 3 years. Couture and Fenimore finished at 24 strokes under par for the 54 hole championship after rounds of 65-64-63.

After back to back amazing rounds of 61 and 63, the team of Greg Boots and Lucas Boyd held the 36 hole lead. A final round of 1 under par 71 was not enough as they fell to a four way tie for 2nd place. Boots and Boyd got off to a slow start and were not able to recover in time. After two days full of birdies from both players, the team managed only three in the final round and faltered with two bogeys..

Also tied for 2nd place was the team of Aaron Hickman and Colin Stoops. Hickman and Stoops made a run and were able to close in on the leaders, but only made 2 birdies in their final 7 holes in a final round of 66. Jim Neumann and Jim Campbell made a late rally to try and put pressure on the leaders, but fell just short. Neumann, a Stonebriar member, and Campbell fired a final round 63 to climb into the second place tie, three shots off the lead. Randy Lance and David Ward also had a great final round to join the second place tie. Lance and Ward got off to a blistering start, making 3 birdies and an eagle in the first 4 holes. Their final round 63 left them 3 shots off the lead.
