MELBOURNE, Arkansas (May 14, 2010) -- Stan Lee knew he would have to play well to beat Bev Hargraves in the championship match of the ASGA Senior Match Play today at Cooper’s Hawk in Melbourne – and four-under par for 18 holes was just barely enough. Lee recorded three birdies and a bogie for a two-under par 34 on the front nine and only led 1-up. Both birdied the par-5 10th hole and the advantage grew to two-up when Hargraves’ par putt on No. 11 did a 360-degree horseshoe around the cup.
Hargraves responded with a birdie at the par-3 12th hole and when Lee three-putted No. 13, the match was all square. With impending thunderstorms moving into Izard County, the pair parred both 15 and 16 and Lee birdied the par-4 17th holing a dificult side-hill six-footer. After Hargraves’ birdie putt on No. 18 slid past, Lee needed to only two-putt from 15 feet and holed the putt for a 2-up victory.
Lee defeated defending champion Oscar Taylor 3 & 2 in the morning semi-finals while Hargraves eased past Keith Browning 2-up.

Hickey Defends Super-Sr. Title
Glenn Hickey of Little Rock played even-par for 16 holes in defeating Sam McAllister 3 & 2 to win the ASGA Super-Senior Match Play Championship today at Cooper’s Hawk in Melbourne. Hickey made eight pars and a birdie on the front nine to grab a 2-up lead at the turn. His lone bogie came at the par-4 11th.
Hickey won last year’s title on his home course, Hurricane Country Club in Bryant. It was the first ASGA Sponsored Championship held at Cooper’s Hawk, which opened in 1998.
