PALATKA, FL (March 14, 2010)--Rick Woulfe, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., defeated David Brookreson in a playoff Sunday to win the Florida Senior Azalea Amateur.
Woulfe, who is unranked in the Golfweek Senior Amateur Rankings, shot a three-round total of 6-over 216 to claim the tournament title at Palatka (Fla.) Golf Club. Brookreson, of Huntington Valley, Pa., who is 46th in Golfweek’s rankings, fired a final-round 70 to vault into a playoff with Woulfe.
Rob Hess, of Casselberry, Fla., carded the low round of the day (69) Sunday to tie for third with Bruce Scamehorn (Winter Haven, Fla.) and Warren Wilhite (Palatka, Fla.).
Bill Zylstra (Ocklawaha, Fla.), Golfweek’s No. 1-ranked player, shot a final-round 76 and finished 10th.
In the super senior scratch division (ages 65 and up), Boyd Johnson (Statesboro, Ga.) shot rounds of 79-74-75 to finish at 18-over 228, two strokes ahead of Joe Cantrell. Dave Spannbauer, of Green Cove Springs, Fla., was third at 232.
