Ohio State's Hoag wins Monroe Invitational in New York

PITTSFORD, New York (June 20, 2009) -- Bo Hoag of Ohio State won the 69th Monroe Invitational, shooting a one-under-par 69 in the rain-soaked final round at Monroe Golf Club Saturday.
Hoag, a rising junior, finished with a combined 277 (70-71-67-69) for the four-day tournament.
Two-time defending champion Phillip Mollica of Clemson shot a four-over 74 and finished at 278, tying him for second with Hoag’s teammate, Brad Wright.
ABOUT THE The Monroe Invitational
The Monroe Invitational is held at Monroe Golf Club
in Pittsford, NY, and is one of the oldest amateur
tournaments in the United States, dating back to its
first playing in 1937. The course is a Donald Ross
design that is a Golfweek Top 100 Classic Course.
The tournament is a 72 hole stroke play event with a
54 hole cut. Invitations are sent out to exempt
players in early February, but the Tournament
Committee would encourage any interested players
to apply for a non-exempt invitation through the
tournament website.
