AGC Monterey County Four Ball: Round 1 Results
PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (Feb. 28, 2009) -- Not a single one of the 54 teams spread across three divisions of the Monterey County Four Ball shot over par today, a first in amateurgolf.com's 8 year history.

Sure, the weather conditions were perfect, with not a stitch of wind and a course that plays just over 5700 yards. But the greens are small and tricky, and several par-3's play in the 200 yard range.

It was the team of Marshall Raymer and Bob Rowland in the Senior Division that lit the course up the most, with a 9-under 61 that puts them three shots clear of Dan Bieber/Bob Fulton and Neil Duffy/Rich Morrison. Playing the same tees as the Championship Division, Raymer and Rowland had no bogeys, and a nice stretch of 4 birdies in a row on holes 11-14.

Four teams shot 63 to stand at the top of the Championship Division leaderboard. One of those teams, Paul Polhemus and Kevin Pitto, played in the Net Division of this tourney just two years ago. They credit their improvement to playing with better players like James Watt and Russell Humphrey (also tied at 63) and playing more tournaments. (you're preaching to the choir guys!)

Rounding out the 63's in the Championship Division are Dave Capel and Jamie Looper, plus Andrew Overton and Tim Breland. It's anyone's game tomorrow.

In the Net Division, Darian Houde and Jim Peterson, locals from Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach, respectively, shot 62. They hold a 1-stroke lead over Jeff Lerner/Rick Pittenger and Mike Lane/Brandon Murphy.

PAIRINGS on Sunday are once again in a shotgun start at 8:00am. To view hole positions and complete results, please click the link below. Any problems - call Pete Wlodkowski at 760-685-3406. Thanks!
