FORT WORTH, Texas — Proving that innovative technology and high-performance shaft designs transcend national boundaries, UST (United Sports Technologies®) chalked up a pair of pro wins on two sides of the Pacific Ocean this weekend. One week after Chez Reavie won the Canadian Open with the Proforce AXIVCore graphite shaft, UST-designed and manufactured produced victories at the Sun Chlorella Classic on the Japan Golf Tour and the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open on the PGA Tour.

In Japan, more than 17,000 spectators attended the Sun Chlorella Classic to see Hideto Tanihara take victory while playing UST Proforce V2 graphite shafts in his Titleist driver, PING 3-wood and two Titleist hybrid clubs.

Closer to home on the PGA Tour, Parker McClachlin won his first ever PGA Tour event at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open using the trusted UST IROD shaft in his Titleist hybrid.

“The popularity of UST high-performance shafts continues to grow on pro tours around the world,” says Jim McIntosh, PGA Tour representative for UST. “The Proforce Series remains one of the hottest, best performing golf shafts in play today, and the next generation of Proforce technology is already making an impact on tour as well. The new Proforce AXIVCore won last week in Canada, and it’s delivering an entirely new level of distance and accuracy.”

AXIV technology in the Proforce AXIVCore is a UST exclusive, proprietary process of weaving specific high-modulus carbon fibers in the critical four axis directions necessary in shaft design to optimize stiffness, hoop strength, and torsional resistance.

The result is the most consistent golf shaft models UST has ever produced. The shaft resists deformation and returns the shaft to a round shape faster than other shafts on the market.

The ‘loading’ and ‘unloading’ of the golf swing, alters the characteristics and shape of a shaft. The AXIV Tetra-Axial weave not only aids in the recovery of the shaft to ensure a consistent return to the ball with each swing, the single ply offers superior feel in the hands. AXIV technology was first introduced in UST’s Mamiya AXIV brand in Japan.

High-performance UST graphite shafts are played by some of the world’s best players such as Davis Love III, Rod Pampling and many others.
